The Construction Team
Our team’s combined experience in building sports facilities includes 15 major league ballparks. In the last 10 years alone, our joint venture team has constructed some of the nation’s premier Major League Baseball sports facilities, such as Bank One Ballpark in Phoenix, Arizona - the world’s first retractable roof with natural grass and Safeco Field, another modern engineering marvel with retractable roof capabilities.
More recently we have constructed some of the league’s newest venues, including PETCO Park for the San Diego Padres, Citizens Bank Ballpark for the Philadelphia Phillies, Great American Ballpark for the Cincinnati Reds, Miller Park for the Milwaukee Brewers and Comerica Park for the Detroit Tigers. We are currently building the new St. Louis Cardinals Ballpark, scheduled to be completed in 2006.

Clark Construction - Founded in Washington, D.C. in 1906, Clark Construction Group, LLC is today one of the nation’s most experienced and respected providers of construction services, with major projects throughout the United States. Clark is the also Washington metropolitan area’s largest contractor, with revenues over $2.3 billion last year. Among Clark’s latest local achievements are the National Museum of the American Indian on the National Mall and the new D.C. Convention Center. The newest ballpark in Major League Baseball - the Padres’ PETCO Park in San Diego, was completed by Clark in time for 2004’s Opening Day. Clark’s sports portfolio includes Oriole Park at Camden Yards, the MCI Center and FedEx Field for the Washington Redskins, as well as every other major sports facility built in the Mid-Atlantic area.
Hunt Construction Group - Hunt Construction Group is one of the nation’s premier builders in the construction of landmark sports venues and is ranked as the #1 builder of sports facilities by Engineering News-Record magazine. Since the company began in 1944, Hunt has been a trailblazer in sports venue construction. Milestones include the world-renowned Louisiana Superdome, built in 1971; Syracuse University’s Carrier Dome, the first fabric-domed stadium in the United States built in 1980; Bank One Ballpark in Phoenix, Ariz., the world’s first retractable-roof stadium with a natural grass playing field, completed in 1998; and the new Cardinals Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., the first retractable-roof and field stadium, completed in 2006. Hunt’s sports portfolio also features 10 NHL arenas, 12 NFL stadiums, 13 Major League Baseball stadiums, and 12 NBA and WNBA arenas. In all, Hunt has built 82 sports venues ranging from major league to minor league to the collegiate level, with total seating for more than 2.5 million spectators.

With annual revenues exceeding $145 million, Smoot Construction Company is a minority-owned contractor headquartered in Columbus, Ohio with regional offices in Indianapolis and Washington, D.C. Founded in 1946, Smoot has developed a diverse portfolio that includes sports facilities, convention centers, educational facilities, healthcare and commercial offices. In addition to the MCI Center and Conseco Fieldhouse, Smoot built the Comcast Center Arena for the University of Maryland, Jesse Owens Stadium at the Ohio State University and Ross-Ade Stadium renovation at Purdue University.
